Project title: “Prevention of gender-based violence through innovative teaching methods for young people.”
Implementation period: 07/15/2017 – 02/15/2018.
Purpose: Training through innovative and interactive methods a group of young people aged 16-18 from the village Bardar on how to identify the hidden tools of aggression used by the aggressor and to collaborate with the local multidisciplinary team to prevent and combat gender-based violence.
Results:
- 3 trainings and 3 workshops were organized for 19 members of the Local Youth Council from Bardar village (9 boys and 10 girls). Through various methods and non-formal education activities, the young participants became acquainted with the parameters of the family system.
- There were organized 2 trainings for multidisciplinary teams on improving the methods of providing support to victims of gender-based violence and 2 workshops for members of territorial multidisciplinary teams from Ialoveni and members of the Local Youth Council in order to develop a joint action plan on prevention and combating gender-based violence.
- Also, the group of young people in collaboration with the project experts developed an information booklet on the hidden tools used by the aggressor.
Project title: “Promoting respect for women’s rights in Moldova by combating gender-based violence”.
Implementation period: 10/01/2016 – 09/30/2019.
Purpose: To strengthen the protection of victims of gender-based violence and to increase the capacity of multidisciplinary teams at the Community level to provide comprehensive services and effective assistance to victims.
Within the project, the partner organizations Promo-LEX Association, the Association against Domestic Violence “Casa Marioarei” and RCTV “Memoria” implemented the pilot mechanism of free assistance and rehabilitation of people suffering from domestic violence. The Promo-LEX Association provided free legal assistance, the Association against Domestic Violence “Casa Marioarei” provided temporary shelter and psychological assistance, and the Rehabilitation Center for Victims of Torture “Memory” provided medical and psychological assistance.
Results:
- There was conducted a study on “Attitude, degree and involvement of members of multidisciplinary teams in the process of identifying and assisting cases of domestic violence”, which was attended by 110 respondents from about 20 localities.
- There was developped a Guide for territorial multidisciplinary teams on dealing with cases of domestic violence, the content of which was consulted with about 70 members of the EMT at 3 regional events (Glodeni, Cahul and Ialoveni). In the elaboration of the Guide, all the proposals and suggestions of the participants in the round tables in the territory were taken into account.
- There was organised a round table in Chisinau with the participation of members of relevant groups and working platforms (Interministerial Coordinating Council, in the field of Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence, National Coalition “Life without Domestic Violence, UN Women, MIA, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Directorate of Social Assistance and Family Protection, National Probation Inspectorate).
- About 150 members of the multidisciplinary teams from 42 localities from 7 districts were trained (Falesti, Ungheni, Rezina, Stefan Voda, Criuleni, Causeni and Telenesti).
- A total of 20 training workshops were organized for 500 EMT members on the use of the Guide.
Project title: “Locating the COMMIT program for women’s empowerment in Moldova”
Implementation period:09/14/2015 – 12/31/2015
Purpose: To increase the number of local public authorities who are aware of the violence issues faced by women and who have increased capacities to provide services to victims of domestic violence, including the localization of the COMMIT / UNIT initiative at Community level.
Results:
- 13 workshops were held in 50 localities in the districts as Cahul, Rezina, Straseni, Telenesti, Soldanesti, Ungheni, Stefan-Voda, Causeni, Glodeni, Orhei, Ialoveni and Chisinau. 255 mayors and councilors from these localities participated.
- The capacities of 144 mayors were strengthened. They signed a Commitment to take action in their communities to combat violence against women and girls.
- It has increased the awareness level and the capacity of service providers within the Joint Information and District Services Offices to address the phenomenon of violence against women, including through their cooperation with Level 1 LPAs.
- The closing event of the International Campaign “16 days of activism against gender-based violence” took place in the city of Ialoveni. The event was attended by about 200 people, of which 155 representatives of local and central public administration – mayors, local councilors.
- Also present were representatives of the UN-Women structure, the EU delegation in Moldova, the Swedish Ambassador, members of the National Coalition “Life without Domestic Violence”, representatives of local NGOs.
Project title: “Strengthening the Association’s capacity to provide quality services to women and children survivors of domestic violence”
Implementation period: Semtember 2014 – March 2015
Funder: Eastern European Foundation from resources provided by the Government of Sweden through the Swedish Agency for International Development and Cooperation (AIDS) and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Purpose: To provide quality services (legal, psychological, social, primary medical care and shelter) to women and their children, who have survived domestic violence, to ensure their social and economic reintegration into society.
Results:
- 577 women received comprehensive assistance (primary counseling, information, individual and group psychological counseling, including mother-child / children couple counseling, legal services with the issuance of 7 protection orders and 7 lawsuits won).
- The shelter accommodated 55 women and their children.
- More than 400 information leaflets were published and distributed.
- 86 community actors responsible for preventing and combating the phenomenon of domestic violence were better informed and better able to report cases of domestic violence.
Project title: “Social, legal, psychological and medical counseling services for victims of domestic violence.”
Implementation period: 2010 – 2014
Funder: Christian Aid from Moldova
Purpose: Involving multidisciplinary teams, local authorities, church leaders and young people in the process of combating the phenomenon of domestic violence.
Results:
- 6 trainings were organized within the project “Church Says No to Family Violence” for church leaders (localities – Cimişlia, Comrat, Leova, Cantemir, Cahul, Ceadîr-Lunga) in April 2013.
- A seminar was held within the Program “Prevention of domestic violence in the southern region of Moldova by empowering vulnerable young people”, on June 25, 2014.
- Meetings were also organized with members of the multidisciplinary team and adolescents on the topics: The psychological characteristics of adolescents. Myths and realities. Constructive ways of communicating with adolescents. Correctional work. Risk factors in the family. The influence of violent behavior in the family on the development of the adolescent. How to collaborate with local structures (city council, district directorate for child protection, multidisciplinary team, police, school, etc.) and NGOs.
Project title: “Volunteers in Community and Organizational Development”
Implementation period: 2012-2013
Through this Program, the Peace Corps in Moldova provides assistance to non-governmental organizations in their high-level institutional development, focusing mainly on improving organizational management, strengthening leadership skills, creating local fundraising strategy.
Results:
For two years, Peace Corps volunteer Lindsay McDaniel worked as a true member of the team. She supported and helped us a lot in creating the local fundraising strategy, as well as in raising public awareness about the phenomenon of domestic violence.
Project title: “Network of” lawyers “in the field of domestic violence”
Implementation period: 03/01/2012 – 12/01/2012
Purpose: Strengthening community capacities in supporting victims of domestic violence.
“Lawyer” (consultant) in the field of domestic violence (DV) – is the person who enjoys respect in the community, has experience in the field of DV and ability to work in partnership. The “lawyer” is an additional source for victims of domestic violence in rural areas and a bridge between the Association “Casa Marioarei” and other services in the field of DV.
The role of DV “lawyers” is to provide support to victims of domestic violence and to serve as an information resource in their communities.
Results :
- 18 DV “lawyers” (consultants) from 18 localities of the country were trained.
- The Network of DV “Lawyers” (consultants) from 18 localities in the republic was created.
- 90% of “lawyers” organized additional events in their communities, which involved at least 377 participants.
- Many of the “lawyers” are involved and are still very active in stopping violence against women.
- We talked about the project in the program “Social Landmarks” on Radio “Moldova 1” we mentioned our objectives, the communities from which were selected DV “lawyers”, as well as their role in the communities where they come from.
- This project was presented at the TCM OSCE meeting in May 2012: the purpose, objectives, the role and responsibilities of VF “lawyers”.
Project title: Introduction of new technologies in the development of the internal capacity of the Center for Assistance to Victims of Domestic Violence within the framework of the Association against Violence “Casa Marioarei”.
Implementation period: 02/01/2013 – 07/05/2013
Purpose: To strengthen the capacities of specialists and to improve the computer skills of the beneficiaries during the placement period.
This project was aimed at purchasing 3 computers and conducting three trainings with specialists of the Center and beneficiaries in order to optimize their work, integrate technologies into their activities and use technologies to develop professional skills as well as improve beneficiaries’ computer skills, introducing online resources and providing beneficiaries with access to computers.
